Janelle Alexander

Director of Licensing

Janelle Alexander is P&B’s Director of Licensing.  She specializes in complex and high-profile alcoholic beverage applications.  Her decade of experience in alcoholic beverage licensing gives her unique insight into the issues that arise over the course of the application process.  Janelle works with major clients including multinational hotel groups, private equity funds, real estate developers, and publicly traded companies on the detailed disclosures required when these organizations invest in businesses selling alcoholic beverages in New York.  She has filed literally hundreds of applications.  Janelle is a graduate of Andrews University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Education and her master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.

Senior Licensing Specialist

Melissa Morales has been a licensing specialist with P&B since 2013.  She works with clients large and small on alcoholic beverage license applications for submission to the State Liquor Authority.  Her encyclopedic knowledge of Community Board procedures and deadlines makes her a valuable resource for clients applying for liquor licenses in New York City.  A native New Yorker, Melissa combines practical advice and creative solutions to prepare strong applications.

Sorraya Surpris

Office Administrator

Sorraya Surpris is often the first member of the P&B team who clients interact with.  She works with clients in the early stages of the alcoholic beverage application process, assisting attorneys in documenting clients' licensing strategy, and filing initial notices with municipalities and New York City Community Boards.   Sorraya has been with the firm since 2017.

Licensing Specialist

Johana Salinas is a licensing specialist at P&B.  She focuses her work on alcoholic beverage license applications, guiding clients through every stage of the process.  Clients who work with Johana appreciate her diligence and attention to detail.  Johana has worked in the legal field her entire professional career, and is also an accomplished small business owner, having started her own mobile notary service.  She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies from Mercy College, and is a certified Paralegal, New York State Loan Signing Agent and Notary Public.

Carolina Marcano

Licensing Specialist

Carolina Marcano was a practicing attorney in her home country of Venezuela, where she represented businesses in the food service industry, with a focus on regulatory compliance.  She draws on these experiences as a Licensing Specialist at P&B in her work assisting clients in the alcoholic beverage licensing process.  Her two passions are food and law, and in her free time, she loves experiencing New York's restaurant scene.  Carolina has volunteered at the New York Food and Wine Festival for the last three years and counting.  Although she does not practice law in the United States, Carolina obtained her law degree from Universidad Monteavila in Caracas, Venezuela.  She also obtained a Master's of Business Administration from Metropolitan College of New York, and a degree in professional cooking from Instituto Culinario de Caracas.

Licensing Specialist

Ann Marie Griffin is a licensing specialist with ten years of legal experience.  Prior to joining P&B, she worked at a small law firm specializing in supermarket transactions, where she was responsible for New York State Liquor Authority submissions for the firm's clients.  At P&B, she uses this unique experience to her advantage as she guides P&B's clients with a steady hand through new liquor license applications, change applications, and renewals.  Ann Marie graduated from St. John's University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, and spent the first eleven years of her career in advertising - an experience that also informs her perspective when advocating on behalf of clients.  She is a certified Notary Public, and spends her free time attending basketball and football games, and small dance company performances.
